# Venture Capital Email Lists

You’ve hand-scraped ten VC partner pages and still can’t tell which of those emails are real. Most first-time founders arrive with a pile of LinkedIn names, no verified addresses, and a stack of bounces from guessed formats.

Building a working venture capital email list this way costs you two outreach weeks before a single pitch lands.

This compares list-building options sized to a founder’s outreach volume and budget, not an enterprise sales team’s headcount. Each option builds toward a venture capital email list of 30-50 relevant partners, not a generic contact dump.

Pick the one that fits your stage and sign up this week to start building yours.

How we built this list

We hand-tested each list ourselves and checked its own pricing page for transparency before adding it to this list. Each pick had to fit a founder’s stage and volume, excluding enterprise-only platforms and specialist databases for hardware, biotech, or consumer investors.

Across client outreach, we’ve seen real accuracy and update-frequency differences between providers; the same “verified” email doesn’t guarantee the same bounce rate.

Entries with no published figure for this metric carry no badge and sit at the end of the list, in no particular order.

CrunchbaseStarting price$49/month billed annually (Pro plan)Best forFiltering investors by stage, type and industryLimitationEmails and direct dials often missing or outdated
Crunchbase works best for founders who want investor data alongside deal and funding context, not just an email list. The database covers [more than 4.3 million organizations](https://about.crunchbase.com/product-updates), with 350,000 companies added in May 2026 alone.

[G2 reviews](https://www.g2.com/products/crunchbase/reviews) rate it 4.5/5, but reviewers repeatedly flag missing or outdated emails and direct dials for the contact you actually want. [Prospeo’s review of Crunchbase](https://prospeo.io/s/crunchbase-pricing-reviews-pros-and-cons) found roughly 40% invalid emails, and Crunchbase publishes no bounce guarantee for undeliverable contacts.

In July 2026, Crunchbase launched a [Model Context Protocol server](https://about.crunchbase.com/press/press-releases/crunchbase-launches-mcp-to-bring-private-market-intelligence-into-ai-workflows) that pipes 39 billion private-market signals into AI workflows. It does not send email itself, so contacts flow out to Salesforce, HubSpot or Outreach for sequencing.
What we seeCrunchbase reads more like a research tool that happens to include contacts, not a contact tool. Teams that pair it with a verification step before sending catch bad emails before they hit a Gmail spam filter. Used alone for bulk outreach, the missing-contact gaps show up as bounces fast.

PitchBookStarting price$12,000–$20,000/year per seat, quote-onlyBest forBuilding a filtered VC and PE investor listLimitationNo email sending; screens by firm, not by partner
PitchBook is a private-markets data platform for building an investor list, not for sending email. Its screener filters funds by size, AUM, and stage, as detailed in [Finding VC Firms of Interest. Investment Screening with PitchBook](https://guides.lib.berkeley.edu/c.php?g=1307308&p=9610015).

That filtering works at firm and fund level, not by an individual partner’s own focus. There is no built-in email sender: [CRM Integration for Private Market Data](https://pitchbook.com/products/crm-integration) pushes records into Salesforce or HubSpot instead.

G2 users rate PitchBook 4.5 out of 5 across 222 reviews, per [PitchBook reviews](https://www.g2.com/products/pitchbook/reviews). Outdated information is the top complaint, cited in 36 of those reviews.

A single seat costs $12,000 to $20,000 a year, per [PitchBook Pricing 2026: What Buyers Actually Pay](https://costbench.com/software/financial-data-terminals/pitchbook/), with extra seats near $7,000.
What we seeFounders often buy PitchBook for the list, then still write and send outreach by hand. Pairing its screener with a separate email tool for deliverability tends to work better than treating PitchBook as the full send-side stack. Teams that skip that step are the ones who blast large investor databases with unpersonalized outreach, and it tends to hurt replies.

FoundersuiteStarting priceFree (Basic); paid plans from $745/yearBest forFounders building their own filtered investor listLimitationNo check-size filter; manual qualification required
Foundersuite is investor-database software built for founders running their own outreach, not an agency doing it for them. The database covers [216,000 global investors](https://foundersuite.com/features/investor_database), roughly 150,000 of them individual angels.

Filtering runs on industry, stage and geography only. Foundersuite’s own guide says users still qualify each lead by hand, checking websites and LinkedIn before an investor makes the final list.

There is no check-size filter, so matching a fund’s ticket size is manual work. The company itself is small, running around $7M in revenue on 9 employees and a single $935K seed round from 2015.
What we seeFounders using tools like this tend to under-qualify the list before sending. A filter on stage and geography feels like targeting. But it is not the same as confirming an investor writes checks at your size. Skipping that manual step is usually where broad, unpersonalized outreach starts.

Visible.vcStarting priceFree tier; paid from $59/monthBest forTracking a targeted investor listLimitationSmaller fund database, capped integrations
Visible.vc is a fundraising CRM built for founders who want to track investor relationships, not just find them. It ships with a database of 21,000 funds, and [G2 reviewers](https://www.g2.com/products/visible/reviews) rate it 4.7 out of 5 across 25 reviews.

The recurring complaint is scale: that fund count trails a dedicated data platform like Crunchbase or PitchBook, and integrations are limited. A free Starter plan exists.

Paid tiers begin at $59 a month, though Visible does not publish full pricing and pushes buyers toward a demo call. For a first-time founder building a short, targeted list rather than a mass database, that trade-off often works in their favor.

The tool nudges you toward fewer, better-tracked investors instead of a blast list.
What we seeFounders who pair Visible with a small, personalized list tend to stay under the spam thresholds Gmail and Yahoo now enforce. Low volume keeps complaint rates down. The ones who try to stretch its 21,000-fund database into a mass-outreach campaign run into the same wall reviewers flag: not enough targets to sustain volume without repeating contacts.

Cognism is a sales intelligence platform built for B2B sales teams, and early-stage founders often repurpose it for investor outreach. Its [Grow tier pricing](https://www.landbase.com/blog/cognism-pricing) starts near $1,500 per user a year, plus a $15,000-$25,000 platform fee, with no free tier.

Cognism acquired Ricochet.ai in 2025, its second acquisition against [$163M in total funding](https://tracxn.com/d/companies/cognism/__5swYX1rauQnak8SvENBTqDB-svnEvGB_V6rEl9Qgcx4/funding-and-investors). [Diamond Data](https://www.cognism.com/diamond-data), its phone-verification layer, checks numbers by hand and claims a 20% connection rate, seven times the industry standard.

The platform’s [search filters](https://help.cognism.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4403393927058-How-to-run-a-Company-Search-on-Prospector) skip investor-specific fields like check size or fund stage, so founders approximate targeting with industry and headcount. It also has no built-in [email sequencing feature](https://www.cognism.com/integrations), so contacts export to a separate tool like Salesloft or Outreach.
What we seeFounders often buy Cognism for the phone-verified numbers, then discover they still need a separate sequencing tool to actually send anything. The lack of check-size or stage filters means list-building here takes longer than with a purpose-built investor database. It works best as a data layer feeding into whatever CRM or outreach tool a team already runs.

Apollo.ioBest forBroad B2B contact prospecting, not investor-specific searchLimitationNo fund check-size or investment-stage filter; phone-data accuracy flagged in reviews
A sales-intelligence and contact-database platform, Apollo.io is built for B2B prospecting, not investor research. It offers more than 65 search filters covering job title, seniority, department, and company details, per [Apollo’s search filters overview](https://knowledge.apollo.io/hc/en-us/articles/4412665755661-Search-Filters-Overview).

That lets a founder target a named partner at a specific firm. None of those filters cover fund check size or investment stage.

Apollo’s “funding stage” field describes companies that raised money, not funds that write checks. On G2, Apollo holds a 4.7 out of 5 rating across [9,696 reviews](https://www.g2.com/sellers/apollo-io), with complaints about phone-data accuracy and stale non-US records.

Apollo says revenue has grown more than fivefold since its [2023 Series D](https://sacra.com/c/apollo/), with ARR near $200M by early 2026. There’s been no new priced round since.
What we seeApollo’s filters are built for company outreach, not fund targeting, so a founder still has to hand-tag investor firms. Any list from Apollo still needs to clear Gmail’s bulk-sender rules before a cold campaign goes out, per [Google’s email sender guidelines](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/81126?hl=en). The stale non-US records mean a Europe or APAC-focused firm list needs a manual double check.

Ocean.ioStarting price$79/month for 500 credits, annual billingBest forLookalike company search for sales teams, not investor contactsLimitationNo check-size or funding-stage filter; coverage skews European
Ocean.io is a company search and enrichment tool built for sales prospecting, not investor mapping. [Pricing starts at $79 a month for 500 credits](https://pipeline.zoominfo.com/sales/ocean-io-review), rising to $299 for 2,000 credits with CRM syncing, or $0.071 per-credit slider.

[Filters cover industry](https://app.ocean.io/docs/searchCompaniesV3), so founders need a separate people search. [The database holds 35 million companies, described as European-only](https://www.salesrobot.co/blogs/oceanio-review), with lookups sequenced across 16-plus data providers.

[G2 reviewers score it 3.1 out of 5 across 12 reviews](https://www.g2.com/products/ocean-io/reviews?qs=pros-and-cons), pointing to outdated contacts and emails that don’t justify the price. Ocean.io added [deeper HubSpot and Pipedrive syncing in 2025](https://ocean.io/blog/enhanced-hubspot-and-pipedrive-integration-launched/), with AI-based segmentation on the HubSpot side and native Salesforce support too.
What we seeFounders who reach for Ocean.io to build a VC list often find it is really a company database, not an investor one. Contacts skew toward sales targets, not partners. Outreach built on this list reads as generic once a partner notices it wasn’t meant for them.

OpenVCStarting priceFree; $99/month or $299/year for premiumBest forPre-seed to Series A founders building a first listLimitationPaid tier caps outreach at 5 investors/day
OpenVC built its name on a free [investor database](https://www.openvc.app/investor-database) of more than 20,000 investors, each vetted through manual review and background check. The lists split by [stage, investor type, industry, and geography](https://www.openvc.app/investor-lists/), letting a pre-seed founder skip the generic dump.

Founders raising through OpenVC have closed rounds too, from [Laennec AI’s $400k pre-seed to Mobly’s $2.5M seed](https://www.openvc.app/funding-stories). Rather than sell an email for every investor, OpenVC surfaces the preferred contact route: email, warm intro, application form, or platform message.

A [Product Hunt reviewer](https://www.producthunt.com/products/openvc/reviews) called that model out directly. The review read: “It advertises as “6,000” investors direct connection database. But once you purchase it and login, it gives you maybe 10 investors which you can actually send a deck to.”

Premium costs [$99 a month or $299 a year](https://www.openvc.app/pricing) and raises outreach from the free cap to 5 investors a day.
What we seeOpenVC works as a starting point when a founder has no warm connections yet. The free tier covers search and deck submission before any payment is needed. Paid access does not guarantee a direct email address for every investor on the list.

DocSendStarting price$10/user/month, Personal plan, billed annuallyBest forTracking deck opens, not building contact listsLimitationNo free plan, and G2 reviewers call it pricey for what it does
DocSend tracks who opens your pitch deck and how long they spend on each slide, not who to send it to. Cold email to VCs works if the deck holds up, says SaaStr’s [Jason Lemkin](https://www.linkedin.com/posts/saastr_yes-cold-email-to-vcs-works-just-fine-activity-7336802669002428416-n0wm): “Yes cold email to VCs works just fine.”

It also runs a [Fundraising Network](https://www.docsend.com/blog/how-to-submit-deck-docsend-fundraising-network/) that scores decks and passes only the top 15% to investors.

Founders can’t filter by stage, sector or check size, and the network only covers Pre-Seed through Series A. There’s no free tier anymore, and pricing starts at $10 per user per month for the [Personal plan](https://www.docsend.com/pricing/), billed annually.

Dropbox killed the free Send and Track tier in March 2025, pushing everyone onto paid plans. DocSend’s own data puts the average first-pass deck review at [2 minutes 14 seconds](https://www.docsend.com/pitch-deck-metrics/).

Decks over 15 slides see roughly 40% less engagement.
What we seeA tracked deck link still gets skipped if the list behind it wasn’t targeted. Volume-bought investor lists often show opens with no read-through. The outreach never matched the pitch to that investor’s stage or focus.

FolkBest forA self-built, people-based investor CRMLimitationNo built-in filter schema; ~50-60% enrichment success rate
Folk is a CRM that treats every contact as a person, not a firm, which fits tracking individual VC partners across funds. It ships a [CRM for Investors](https://www.folk.app/crm-for-x/investors) template, but you build filter fields like fund, stage, or check size yourself.

Enrichment runs on a waterfall across six providers, including Apollo.io and Clearbit. Folk’s own [enrichment guide](https://help.folk.app/en/articles/6804416-1-click-enrichment-find-emails-phone-numbers) puts the success rate at only 50-60%, with no published bounce guarantee.

Standard still caps you at 500 shared credits a month, per [Lightfield’s pricing breakdown](https://lightfield.app/blog/folk-crm-pricing). Folk has raised $3.3M from investors including Accel and Kima Ventures, per [Tracxn’s funding data](https://tracxn.com/d/companies/folk/__5hMx-YnsiwKyMS2xBYn98fbeLhmrOUnEDqszt4SvxKM/funding-and-investors).

It also carries a 4.5-star rating from roughly 320 reviews on [G2](https://www.g2.com/compare/nimble-vs-folk-folk).
What we seeFolk’s flexibility cuts both ways. Founders who skip building out fund, stage, and check-size fields end up with a contact list that looks organized but isn’t filterable. Its enrichment waterfall also means match rates depend on whichever provider finds the contact first, not on folk itself.

Signals by NfXStarting priceFree, no paid tiersBest forA first list to build fromLimitationCommunity-voted, not a verified warm intro
Signals by NfX is a free investor list, and NFX confirms that in its [Signal FAQ](https://signal.nfx.com/faq). NFX is the $1.5B seed fund behind it, and its own [site](https://www.nfx.com/) puts Signal’s user base past 100,000 founders.

Its 2026 rankings, like the [Top 2026 Investors who were founders](https://signal.nfx.com/investor-lists/top-who-were-founders-investors) list, come from community votes, not a paid research team. On [Product Hunt](https://www.producthunt.com/products/nfx) it holds a 4.7 out of 5 rating from more than 156 reviews.

The catch is the one every free list carries: a name and email address is not an introduction. HOF Capital investor Colin Fitzpatrick made that point directly in a [LinkedIn post](https://www.linkedin.com/posts/colly_cold-emailing-investors-is-a-waste-of-time-activity-7334170569602457600-9ErN) on cold investor outreach: “Cold emailing investors is a waste of time. The only way to seek investment is through your network.”
What we seeFree lists like this tend to work best as a starting point, not a mail-merge target. Founders who blast the full export risk tripping [Gmail’s bulk sender rules](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/81126?hl=en), which require a spam rate under 0.3%. The names on it still need a warm path before the first email goes out.

Angels PartnersBest forFounders building their own outreach listLimitationSmall Trustpilot sample (24 reviews)
Angels Partners is an investor database built for founders who want to run their own outreach instead of buying a contact list. The [Angels Partners investor database](https://angelspartners.com/fundraising-engine/investor-database) holds over 120,000 profiles, split between 40,000 angel investors and 69,000 VCs, funds and family offices.

Profiles get refreshed every three months, and AI agents audit each link quarterly for job and fund changes. [Trustpilot reviewers](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.angelspartners.com) rate the product 4.3 out of 5 across 24 reviews, a small sample for a tool this size.

The catch is volume, since a database this size makes broad, unpersonalized outreach easy to send and burns founder reputations. Any list this size only works if the sender also meets [Gmail’s bulk-mail rules](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/81126?hl=en), including a spam rate under 0.3%.
What we seeFounders lean on tools like this when they want volume and speed over relationship-building. The risk shows up downstream, since a database this broad tempts teams into blast sends instead of a shortlist. The firms that get the best mileage out of it use it to build a targeted list, then personalize before sending.

Stage filters are only as good as your read on your own round, so it helps to know where you sit across the [startup funding stages from seed to Series C](https://qubit.capital/blog/venture-capital-stages) before you start ticking boxes in any of these databases.

A database gives you contacts, not a process. Pair whichever tool you pick with [the steps to secure venture capital funding](https://qubit.capital/blog/securing-venture-capital), so the names you export feed into a round you are actually ready to run.

## Why a Bigger List Isn’t the Answer

Once budget allows, the instinct is to buy the biggest investor database available and blast it. A bigger list is not a better list: a broad, unpersonalized send is what gets a founder’s sending domain flagged, not a shortage of names.

Google’s bulk-sender rules, effective February 2024, require SPF/DKIM and unsubscribe handling once volume crosses the threshold. Qubit has watched founders skip this after buying large lists.

*From Qubit’s advisory work:* “Founders who bought large, unfiltered investor databases and sent broad, unpersonalized outreach saw their sending domain’s deliverability degrade, a pattern observed across multiple early-stage advisory engagements.” Filter to 30-50 right-fit partners by stage, sector.

Check size before sending anything, then stay inside sender limits.

Volume also hides a targeting problem. Founders who understand [how venture capital funding actually works](https://qubit.capital/blog/venture-capital-explained-secure-funding), from check sizes to fund mandates, cut their own list down before sending, because most names on a purchased database were never going to fund a company at that stage or in that sector.

## How to use this list

### What Counts as a Verified Email, Not a Guess

A verified email means someone or something confirmed the address accepts mail. That happens two ways: a real send-and-open test, or a pattern match checked against a live mail server.

A guessed email is a format assumption. First initial plus last name at the firm’s domain. It might work. It might bounce.

Ask any provider how they verify, not just whether they do. A stale list re-checked six months ago will bounce more than one verified last week.

### Why a Tight List Beats a Big One

A bigger investor list feels safer, but it isn’t. Sending 300 emails to unfiltered contacts burns your domain’s reputation before you get real traction.

Filter by check size, stage, and sector first. A partner who never writes checks below $2M won’t reply to a $500K seed pitch. The list quality does not matter if the fit is wrong.

Qubit has seen founders buy a large database, blast it, and land in spam folders within weeks. A short list of 30-50 right-fit partners converts better and protects deliverability for the next round too.

A verified address only buys you the open. What happens next depends on the pitch itself, and [what makes investors reply to a cold pitch](https://qubit.capital/blog/tips-to-attract-venture-capitalists) comes down to traction, fit with the fund’s thesis, and a first line that shows you did the reading.

## Conclusion

Most founders building a first list of 30-50 partners don’t need enterprise data. OpenVC, Foundersuite, and Crunchbase cover pre-seed through Series A outreach at free-to-mid budgets. Bigger platforms add cost and complexity most early founders won’t use.

Pick one option this week. Filter it to 30-50 right-fit partners by stage, sector, and check size, then set up SPF/DKIM before sending a single email.

A reviewed shortlist of right-fit VC partners and an outreach sequence ready to send: Qubit Capital’s [fundraising advisory](https://qubit.capital/startup-services/fundraising-assistance) helps founders sanity-check their list and sequence outreach so it lands.
