# US Venture Capital Firms Backing Deep Tech, by Stage (346 Firms, 2026)

TL;DR
- 361 US venture capital firms on the [SEC](https://www.sec.gov/data-research/sec-markets-data/information-about-registered-investment-advisers-exempt-reporting-advisers) roster back deep tech, by Qubit’s research. This page lists the 346 with a documented stage.
- Split by stage: Pre-seed 197, Seed 277, Early stage (Series A–B) 211, Growth and later 149.
- Qubit’s investor research is the source for stage and sector. No firm is listed on a guessed stage.

Most deep tech VC lists rank firms by size. The largest here is Coatue Management, at $128.7 billion in filed assets. It will not lead your seed round.

These firms also back AI, Enterprise SaaS and Cybersecurity. San Francisco Bay Area is home to 1.22 times its usual share of them. 3 of these funds stay inside three sectors or fewer.

Measured against the whole documented US roster, that is 22.3 percent. 286 of the 346 spread their cheques across multiple stages.

## How this list was built

[SEC Form ADV filings](https://www.sec.gov/data-research/sec-markets-data/information-about-registered-investment-advisers-exempt-reporting-advisers) lodged as of 1 July 2026 give the 361 firms on this page. Of these, 307 file as exempt reporting advisers and 54 as registered ones. Both rosters are read.

26 deep tech venture capital firms appear once despite holding more than one registration. Both names are shown for the 85 whose trading name differs from the filed one. Filed assets update once a year, so treat them as approximate.

A dash is missing documentation, not a firm without a preference.

## Pre-seed: 197 firms

These 197 firms back companies before revenue and often before a product. The largest are Arch Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, Quiet Capital Management and Crosslink Capital.

## Seed: 277 firms

277 firms will look at a company raising its seed. The largest are Bpifrance Digital Venture, Craft Ventures Management, Canaan Partners and Venrock Management.

## Early stage (Series A–B): 211 firms

211 of them invest at Series A and Series B rounds. The largest are US Innovative Technology Fund, Meritech Capital, FR Capital Holdings and IVP.

## Growth and later: 149 firms

149 of them write growth and late-stage cheques. 35 of them back Fintech. The largest are Pinegrove Venture Partners, astorplaceholdings.com, Bond and Sutter Hill Ventures.

## All 346 firms

This page gives you 346 deep tech firms without saying which to approach. Add AI and 178 remain, with your stage narrowing it again. Qubit’s [investor mapping](/startup-services/investor-mapping) builds that shortlist from your profile.
